The Blessings Of Spiritual Fruit
What is spiritual fruit?
Spiritual fruit are the results of you living by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The word says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control." (Galatians 5:22-23) If you want to acquire these blessings, you are required to live and walk by the Spirit.
What does it mean to live & walk by the Spirit?
To live and to walk by the Spirit means to be fully guided by the Holy Spirit in all things. You must learn to put your own understanding aside and put your trust in the Spirit. What is your wisdom compared to God's wisdom? Who can teach God? The word says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)
When it comes to living by the Spirit, you can look at the Apostle Paul. There were many times where Paul faced adversity and resistance in his missionary journeys. In Acts 16:22-27, Paul and Silas are beaten and imprisoned, and after all that, they were praying and singing hymns of praise to God. A normal person living on their own understanding and with no faith would have cursed God and let themselves fall into a state of melancholy and rotted in that prison. But Paul and Silas kept the faith and were not only freed, but the prison shook and crumbled.
Living and walking by the Spirit means to have unwavering faith and staying committed to the race even when things go south. How many of you have been beaten and imprisoned and truly persecuted by your fellow man? When you compare your life to the Apostles and the things you endured to what they endured, you can clearly see that there is no reason for you not to have faith.
What is your potential if you're with the Spirit?
When you submit yourself to the will of the Spirit, you will become Christlike. You will no longer be spiritually dead and have no purpose. Your life will be holy and godly, but that does not mean that your life will be easier, but "Hard times create strong men." When you choose the Spirit, you will gain everything and lose nothing but the world, and that only comes with fleshly desires and pleasures.
"There's a peace only to be found on the other side of war" - King Arthur. You will face adversity, but know that you are on the winning team. God has already decided the outcome of the world; you're just going through the movie.
Brothers and sisters, I ask that you stick to the faith and stay alert because the devil does not want you to crucify your flesh. When you choose this life, you will be hit with all kinds of trouble, but if you stick with the Spirit, you will be okay.
May our Lord bless you all. Amen.
