Using Your God Given Gifts
God has given you gifts and talents to be used for the greater good. “To those who use what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance.” God wants to give you gifts to not only improve your life but to give glory to his kingdom as well. Would you keep buying things for someone even if they never use them?
Just like in the Parable of the Three Servants the man left his servants and entrusted them with his money. Two of his servants used the money to make the man more money and the third hid it out of fear of losing it and made no investments. He was cursed by the man. (Matthew 24:14-30)
How To Reap the Rewards from Your Gifts
This is where a lot of Christians fall into arrogance and pride. They believe that they are entitled to the rewards of their gifts without work, that's a lie you are owed nothing but death. If you want to reap the rewards of your gifts you must have a brutal work ethic.
Colossians 3:23-24: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
2 Things That Hinder Your Gifts
Laziness: Laziness can stop you in the most important moments of your life. Apostle Paul warns us about Laziness; he says "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.” Laziness will bite you like a snake in tall grass; it will undermine you with a delusion of temporary motivation. One of the worst things you can be is a lazy person with a dream. The Antidote to laziness is Discipline.
Pride: Pride makes you believe that you are too good to get your hands dirty, too good to put in the work that every winner has put in, it makes you believe that you're the best when in reality you're not even top 10. You know who else had pride? Satan. The Bible says “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”
I encourage you to self reflect. Take a moment to reflect on your life, look for the gifts God has given you and think about how you've been using those gifts. Are you using your gifts in a way God will want you too? Do you have pride or laziness when it comes to not only your gifts but other areas in your life? Pray about it and truly seek an answer.
